At times it is important to throw caution to the wind, but in mountaineering--especially at extreme altitudes--that can be deadly. That is one of the principle reasons we received funding for our research to Denali, North America's tallest mountain.

Adapting techniques used in hospitals for cardiopulmonary patients, our research hopes to form objective measurements that helps climbers know when it is safe to proceed upwards when high-altitude hypoxia is a predictable danger.
